Patient information
What is a hand therapy practitioner?
Hand therapy practitioners are qualified occupational therapists and physiotherapists specialising in managing hand and upper limb injuries and conditions.
This expertise has been developed through years of post-graduate education and training, and no other allied health professional is better trained to get you back to doing what you enjoy.
What is an Accredited Hand Therapist?
An AHT has demonstrated an advanced level of competence in hand therapy and has been assessed as qualified and competent to provide safe, evidence-based diagnosis, advice and treatment. The Australian Hand Therapy Association has awarded the credential.
Do I need a referral?
A referral is not always required.
We recommend you call your local Accredited Hand Therapist as soon as possible. Delays can hinder full recovery.
Our practitioners can advise on whether a surgical consult is required.
