Hand Therapy Week

6 – 12 June 2022

Aim 

To raise awareness of hand therapy practitioners and how they help patients with sports injuries.

Objectives 

Increase the profile of hand therapists:

  • who they are,
  • their expert knowledge related to the treatment of hand injuries incurred from trauma related to sport, and
  • how to find them. 

Key Messages

  1. Consult with an expert – a hand therapy practitioner is a physiotherapist or occupational therapist with expertise in the finger, hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.
  2. Patients can find a hand therapy practitioner on our website www.ahta.com.au

Target audience (in priority order) 

  1. Parents of children playing sport 
  2. People who play sport 
  3. People who work in sport (coaches, teachers) 

How can I get involved?  

The Membership Committee have developed a Campaign Kit for members. 

You can access the Campaign Kit by logging in to your 'Member Portal'. You will find it under 'My Documents'.

Competition judging criteria? 

Submissions will only be accepted from current members.

1. Achieved publication: Stories must be published.

2. Story relates: The story must contain information relevant to the 2022 theme of sports injuries.

3. Engagement: The story is engaging for the public audience.

4. Call to action: The story positively promotes the AHTA and the profession of hand therapy and it includes 'how to find a hand therapist or information about the AHTA website or socials.

5. Public reach: The story reaches a large group of people.

6. Overall experience: The story is creative and engaging and the overall experience of reading or listening to the story is positive. 

How do I enter the competition?

Please email a copy of a published article or a link to a radio interview to the office by 22 June 2022. 

Include which category the entry is being submitted to Public Health, Private Practice or Regional and Remote.  

Submissions will be judged by a panel and applicants will be notified via email.
