Course exam instructions
Important
All course exams are conducted under examination conditions and are CLOSED BOOK.
Navigating to another page to find information is logged by the system.
If you click your mouse to open another tab in your browser, or to anywhere other than the exam page, this will be logged.
Logs are checked by our staff following exams and any person with navigation activity will be asked to re-sit the exam again.
There will be no exceptions. CHEATING will NOT be TOLERATED.
Instructions – CANVAS and ZOOM
Exams are completed via ZOOM using CANVAS or CLASS MARKER.
If you are not ready to begin the exam on time, we will NOT be able to assist you during the exam, as this will impact the others in the group.
Refer to 'Before the exam' (below) and the 'steps' below.
STEPS:
- If you haven't used Zoom for a while, it may ask you to update the software. This can take time, therefore, join the exam, well in advance.
- For exams in CANVAS, log in to CANVAS on your computer or laptop and navigate to the course you are sitting the exam for. eg. Open Trauma.
- Then look in the menu on the left for 'Assignments' then 'Quizzes'.
- Click on the exam, and you will be given an access code by the invigilator.
- Foe exams in ClassMarker, the invigilator will provide a link in the Zoom chat box.
Before the exam
You MUST have a laptop or desktop to complete the exam.
You CANNOT use an iPad or iPhone to complete the exam.
You MUST set your computer camera so that the invigilator can see upwards from your elbow/chest.
You MUST log in no less than 10 minutes before the exam begins.
You MUST log in to CANVAS and ZOOM (refer to additional instructions below).
You MUST turn mobile phones off and limit background noise – so as not to disrupt other participants.
You MUST be ready to start on time – out of courtesy to your fellow exam participants and the staff invigilating the exam.
Commencing the exam
Your camera and microphone must be on at all times.
The link to the exam will be provided in the text box when the invigilator is ready to start the exam.
You have ONLY ONE attempt.
Do not navigate away from the browser as your attempt will be closed.
You can review and amend your answers before completion if you wish by using the navigation buttons within the program.
The invigilator may mute you.
If you need to ask a question, please use the chat box and direct this to the invigilator (the host), NOT the whole group.
Content-specific questions cannot be answered.
Ending the exam
Click submit when you have finished the exam.
You can LEAVE the exam when you have finished.
You will be notified when 5 minutes are remaining.
Complete the survey (if you haven’t already).
Q & A
1. What if I am unwell on the day of the exam?
Email the AHTA office to advise before 5 pm (AET)
Provide a medical certificate within seven days.
2. What if my internet drops out?
DO NOT close your browser.
Allow time for re-connection – The exam will be restored, and you will be able to continue where you left off.
3. Can I check or go back to my previous answers?
Yes, you can just press ‘previous’. Your answers are automatically saved.
