We are pleased to confirm that Open Trauma will proceed, however we have made the decision to move the course to online.

There will be an introductory session on the 11th of November from 7pm-10pm AEDT. Following this there will be 3 online sessions on the previously scheduled dates:

20/11/2020 10am-5pm AEDT

21/11/2020 10am-5pm AEDT

22/11/2020 10am-5pm AEDT

The assignment will be due on 10 January 2021.

About the presenter - Joy Hanna

OT, B OT, M Sc (Hand Therapy), Accredited Hand Therapist as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association

Joy has over 20 years experience in hand and upper limb rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 1992 and completed a Master of Science (Hand Therapy) in 2003. Her Masters thesis was in the Management of Extensor Tendon Injuries with Early Active Mobilisation. She has worked both in Australia and the UK, within both the public and private sectors. She is currently the Manager of EKCO Hand Therapy in Brisbane. Joy has presented at both national and international conferences in Australia, the UK and USA and has taught at a number of universities in the field of hand therapy. Joy is a past president of the Australian Hand Therapy Association.

 

About the trainee presenter - Melanie McCulloch

OT, Grad Cert Hand Therapy, Accredited Hand Therapist as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association

Melanie has over 20 years experience in hand and upper limb rehabilitation, working mostly in trauma across both public and private sectors. She is the Director and Senior Hand Therapist at Re-wired Hand Therapy & Nerve Recovery in Melbourne, Victoria. She has extensive experience in the treatment of brachial plexus injury and has presented at National and International conferences including an AHTA workshop on Nerve Transfer Rehabilitation in 2017. Melanie graduated from La Trobe University in Occupational Therapy and has a Graduate Certificate in Hand Therapy from Derby in the UK. She is a current Member of the Credentialing Council of the AHTA.

Additional presenters undergoing training may be in attendance and presenting at this course. Trainee presenters spend a great deal of time preparing and being coached for these courses, and are selected to present for the AHTA as skilled therapists in the area of the course content.
